The Seasons

Dry Season

June - October

The dry season, from June to October, offers excellent conditions for game viewing and hiking. During this time, the vegetation is sparse, making wildlife easier to spot in the park’s diverse habitats. Animals tend to gather around water sources, increasing chances of observing iconic species such as giraffes, buffaloes, and even the elusive leopard. The cooler temperatures and clear skies make it an ideal season for outdoor activities like trekking to Mount Meru or exploring the Momella Lakes. Photographers will appreciate the crisp lighting and stunning landscapes during this season.

Wet Season

November - May

The wet season, from November to May, transforms the park into a lush green haven teeming with life. This is the best time for birdwatching as migratory birds arrive, adding to the park’s rich avian diversity. The Momella Lakes become vibrant with activity, particularly with the arrival of large flamingo flocks. The rainforests are alive with the sounds of Colobus monkeys and other forest species, offering a unique experience for visitors seeking serenity and biodiversity. While wildlife viewing may be slightly more challenging due to dense foliage, the park’s scenery and unique experiences make it a rewarding time to visit.
